e-Medical Attendant Visa

Indian Medical Attendant Visa

The Indian Government allows those interested in medical treatment to enter the country via an Indian Medical Visa. However, a patient travelling alone is not the most convenient or safe, and therefore, there is an Indian e-Medical Attendant visa.

So for instance, if you are a patient, you can enter India through an e-Medical Visa. But when one or more of your family members or friends want to accompany you as attendants, then they would need to apply for an Indian Medical attendant visa and carry it.

Validity of Indian Medical Attendant Visa

The Indian Medical Attendant Visa is largely similar and has almost similar characteristics to an e-Medical Visa. Like the latter, it too is valid for 60 days and is a triple-entry visa, with one having the scope to apply for it three times in 1 year.

Once the validity of the medical attendant Visa is over, the holder has to leave the country. Only after re-application and approval can they visit India again with the patient.

The validity of both an e-Medical visa and an e-Medical attendant visa is calculated from the date of entry to India.

Eligibility for Indian Medical Attendant Visa

An Indian Medical Visa has provisions for only two Medical Attendant Visas. So anyone applying for the Indian Medical Attendant Visa has to follow this and make sure the patient himself/herself either has a Medical Visa (or e-Medical Visa) or applied for the same.

So for a patient visiting India, only two family members or friends can visit as attendants.

What Does One Require To Get Approved For Indian e-Medical Attendant Visa?

Following is the list of documents required in the submission of the Indian Medical Attendant Visa application form:

·      Electronic or scanned copy of the first page of the passport for the person accompanying the patient. This has to be a standard passport, not any other kind.

·      The passport has to be valid at least for the next 6 months from the date of entry to India.

·      Copy of recent passport-sized photograph

·      A functional email id

·      A debit or credit card for payment of application fees

·      The Indian e-Medical Attendant visa applicant may also have to show their return/onward ticket that takes them out of India.

Now another requirement for someone willing to obtain a Medical Attendant Visa for India is the documents related to the Indian medical visa holder. This includes the documents supporting the identity details of the patient like their name, DOB, Visa and Passport number, application ID and so on.

Just like the medical visa, the attendants to the patient must apply for their respective Indian e-Medical Attendant Visas at least 4-7 days before their flight date. And all the Visa holders (including the patient) have to enter and exit the country only after passing through the approved Immigration checkpoints.

These are present in 28 airports and 5 seaports, and you’d require at least two blank pages on your passport as officials there would be stamping it.
